The drivers side rear brake on my 98 SLS locked up about 6 months ago and before I noticed it burned through the pad down to the rivets and ruined the rotor. I replaced the caliper, rotor and pads. About two months later during a state inspection they said this brake had excessive wear and the wheel was locked or very hard to move. Since caliper, rotor were new the thought was that it was the rubber brake line. This 98 SLS is not my regular drive as I alternate between it and my 01 SLS. It has 211,000 miles and the rubber brake line was a strong suspect. So I replace the line and the pads and it seemed fine and passed inspection.
Then yesterday going down the driveway I notice a grinding sound and when I looked the pads where down to the rivets and the rotor was ruined again. I am at a loss as to what is happening. I am thinking maybe the emergency brake but I never use it so why would it all of a sudden lock up.
I am hoping other readers with more experiences can give some ideas about what is happening.
