I have a 2002 STS that just turned 87K.
About a month ago i started hearing a clunk from the back of the car when going over bumps, brought it to a local Cadillac specialist and they said everything looks to be ok.
I wanted a 2nd opinion so the other day i brought it to a genuine Cadillac dealership. The list of "issues" is pretty significant.
1) Front CV shaft has a torn boot
2) Power steering rack/inner tie-rod is bent
3) Outer tie-rod ends are shot
4) Oil pan gasket is leaking
5) Rear shocks are leaking
6) Rear brakes have "cheap" pads not sitting right in the calipers
7) Front brake rotors have small warp
8) Needs 4 tires.
Now when the car was up on the lift, they DID bring me under the car and showed me EVERYTHING, so its no BS from them.
1- I knew about the torn boot, found it last oil change
2- This is my big question, what are the chances that the actual power steering rack is bent/damaged? I the inner tie-rod more likely to bend first saving the rack? How much of a pain is it to change the rack? Who has the correct AC delco part number for the rack?
3- already replaced those yesterday
4- oil pan wasnt leaking last oil change
5- already ordered new shocks from local GM distributor
6/7 - Anyone know the correct AC delco part numbers for brakes all around (pads+rotors) Rock auto seems to have a few different levels of brakes
8- tires will be purchased in the next month or so
So my main questions are regarding issue # 2 and 6/7.
Any insight/help would be appreciated
