hello cadillac enthusiasts! i am new to this site but i am not new to forums. i have just purchased a 2003 cadillac sls with 130,000 miles. i love the car, it was everything i was expecting out of a cadillac. after replacing the brakes on all four corners (pads and rotors) i had a code abs 1235 i believe? it was a rr wheel speed sensor if i'm not mistaken. i found that i had not clipped up the wire that runs with the parking brake cable. either way that code is gone but i am now getting error codes c1214 and c1248. is there any way the wheel speed sensor failed completely which would create the open circuit code? if not what could it be? i have been reading that it could be the ebtcm, but i figured i would check here before i started to throw money and time at it.

Wp clicking noise
So yesterday I was driving and I noticed that my temp gauge increased to slightly before the next line after 12. I was in stop and go traffic (alot of red lights) and the outside temp was reading 92I'm sure this is normal right? When I was driving it would go back to a tick past 12 even with a/c on. A little worried I am now letting my car idle up to temp to see if its going to go past 12. I popped good and now I'm noticing a clicking noise coming from the pulley system (click click click click click etc) as fast as you can read them. I'm wondering if that's normal on my 01 or would clicking indicate a slip or non proper function. I cant ever remember it even going past 12 even in stop and go. I take the same route as always but yesterday it seemed to increase in temp. Would the outside temp cause that?Edit: now that it's at 12 the clicking is a slightly faint but still very much present. Last edit: I usually smell the smell of burning rubber when I drive a while and after stopping the car. I can definitely smell the smell of rubber burning coming directly over the belt cover of the wp.

04 SLS seat stops part way back
I have an 04 Seville SLS with 73k on it. I am 5'11' and my wife is 4'11' so the memory is changed each time we change drivers. When moving the seat forward or back the seat will stop half way. Hitting the button on the seat to continue going forward or back will allow the seat to proceed in the intended direction. I have verified that there appears to me noting blocking the seat movement. We can recreate this with and without people sitting in the seat.
What can be done to correct this? Currently it is an annoyance but if this is an issue that being fixed now will avoid a more costly repair later I would like to know. My goal is to keep this car till it dies. With only 73k on it there are allot of miles left.

How to clear STOP ENGINE and ENGINE OVERHEATED messages
I have a 1992 Eldorado that overheated a few days ago. All back to normal now except that I cannot clear the messages STOP ENGINE and ENGINE OVERHEATED from the dash display. This is annoying because they stay on for a really long time and prevent me from seeing the actual coolant temp display (or any other of the sensor displays).
I have gone into the diagnostics mode and cleared all codes (ECM, IPC, ACP, SIR) and I have disconnected the battery to attempt a reset. Neither had any effect on clearing these messages.
Any suggestions?
thanks!

Strange Request - 1988 Eldorado trunk layout for speaker install
Ok so here's the scoop. My 88 Eldorado is currently 50 miles away and I'm working with some modelling software to get some fab plans. Does anyone have pictures of the trunk of this generation and the rear deck lid? I googled these to no avail. Not to be a pain in the butt, but I'd like as many pictures from as many angles as possible, but if you've got any at all please share! Thanks guys

Head Unit just died?
Good morning fellas,

2001 Seville Noise while turning.
Good Afternoon, i have a 2001 Cadillac Seville SLS, whenever I turn right i hear a clicking sound. I changed the right CV joint and hub assembly, clicking sound still persist. Should I have changed the left one? and my mechanic noticed that there is no left engine mount, can that be the source of the problem?

98 Seville cooling fans not working
Hi,
I have been looking on past threads and can't find a solution to my problem so maybe someone can help me.
I have a 98 seville sts with a 4.6L northstar v8. My cooling fans won't turn on when the engine gets too hot (above 236 °F) and results in overheating when I drive long enough in warm weather.
To troubleshoot I have had the relays and fuses looked at and they look good. I have also put in a new coolant temp sensor.
I have tested the fans to see if they work by disconnecting the coolant temp sensor and they run good at a high speed like they are supposed too.
With the coolant temp sensor plugged in my gauge on my dash appears to work correctly as it goes to the 3 oclock postion when the engine overheats. My DIC tells me that the engine is hot and that the a/c is off as a result so it sounds like the sensor is detecting that the coolant is getting too hot.
When I run the engine with the a/c on and the coolant temp sensor connected, the fans do not turn on as they should.
Tomorrow I'm going to pick up the 18psi AC delco coolant reservoir cap to replace my 15 psi cap but I doubt that will make any difference. I also do not suspect the thermostat is a problem as the coolant flow appears to be normal.
I'm not sure if the problem is with the PCM but it seems like thats the only remaining part that could go wrong. Is it the pcm thats the problem? Or is there another component I am missing that could be causing this issue?
Thank you very much for any help/advice that is provided!

Which power steering hoses are correct? Nobody seems to know.
Hello, I'm new here. This is the first Cadillac I ever owned.
It was a great price, low mileage, perfect shape, etc.
1996 Cadillac Eldorado VIN Y
The only problem is the power steering line has a leak and the break lines need replaced.
Which is odd as this car is perfectly clean underneath. No rust at all except for a small spot in the passenger rear.
Anyways, I am trying to find replacement hoses for the power steering as it will be easier, and all the parts suppliers keep showing me 6-7 different hoses.
I know these two are correct for sure from what I can see in the engine compartment:
1:
(Power steering return hose)

2:
(Power steering pressure hose)
http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...15009|L3*15710
I can not figure out what these hoses are for, however they are listed for my vehicle:

If anyone can help me chose the correct hoses, I would appreciate it. I have been looking everywhere and nobody can give me a straight answer as to which ones are actually on this vehicle. I plan to replace all the lines with brand new lines.
I still have not bought a Service book for the car yet, and it is difficult to find the correct parts without the book.
Other than the break and power steering lines, I have the Service Ride control notice. But I'm not here about that. I still have yet to plug in the computer for the codes anyways.

Brake light goes off when brake pedal is pressed (1996 STS)
I have a 1996 Cadillac Seville STS and I found out by the police that one of my brake lights goes off when I'm braking. I had my son step on the brakes when in park, and indeed it goes off when the brake pedal is pressed. The other lights are somewhat dim as well. I've changed a couple bulbs in the past but they were still dim. I want to change the bulb in the one that keeps going off, but if it comes on after I release the brake pedal then it seems like it doesn't need to be.
I also have an issue with my windows. None of the windows are working. The driver side window started acting funny one day, like it didn't want to roll all the way up and after repeatedly pressing the window button, it would roll up, but kind of slowly. I was relieved that I was able to get it to come up from being stuck down. But now none of the windows work, and I checked them all individually as well as the master control panel, but no luck. I checked the fuses and replaced window relay fuse that I could find, but the still don't work. I need to know if there is another relay somewhere for the windows. I trouble-shot as much as I could think of and I just can't get them to operate.
But foremostly, I am concerned about my brake light problem. Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem and what DIY steps i can take to resolve this most frustrating problem. I can't legally drive with my tail light operating the way it is. Please help.

Best MPG you've observed
Hi everybody. We have a 2004 Seville and we have taken it on trips but the best MPG we got was 23 and change. We drive 70-80 on freeways and are using regular, not premium.
My previous car was a RWD Pontiac Formula with a supercharged and modified LT1 with 500 HP and I could get 24.8 doing 120 mph. So, if the common knowledge is FWD is more efficient and HP used more fuel, why doesn't this Cadillac get better mileage?
I drove my Pontiac from Las Vegas to LA one Christmas morning at dawn which was a Sunday also and no traffic. 2000 RPM was 80 and 3000 rpm 120 I nade the trip in record time and filled each end to ck mileage. Even at 80 I got 25 MPG.

Speakers constant buzzing noise when off - Amplifier probably not turning off
Hi there,
The car in question is a 1997 Seville SLS Northstar.
The problem: when the audio system (stock Delco) is off there is still a buzzing noise in the speakers and that drains the battery.
The theory: Some relay or controller for the amplifiers not functioning.
While the stereo system is off inserting the relay for L/R speakers causes the relay to turn on and then the speakers to buzz. My logic says that the origin is what controls those two relays or perhaps beyond that. I did find the wire that controls the relays but it went into the casing that goes to the front and also a branch heads towards the right hand side corner of the panel behind the rear seat. I have no idea where that cable goes as I thought it might be a better idea to ask rather than rip everything apart first.
The back-up plan is just to cut one of the cables and put a switch in the front for it to b possible to manually turn the speakers on and off.
Could anyone give some good advice and/or are there electrical diagrams available that would have all the wires mapped?
Thanks in advance,
modulo

Proud new owner of a 2001 SLS
Great car, never owned a cadillac before but have had a few GM vehicles. A couple of issues though :bonkers:
Slight overheating issue, going to try the relief tube check tomorrow when its cooled down.
I am not getting hardly any sound from the radio. I think some of the antenna connections have been disconnected, definetly going to check on that.
Feels great to join the club! :cool2:
Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

Bleed Brakes 98 ETC
Going to replace both front caliper tomorrow (only one is sticking but best practice says do both). My question is about bleeding. I've read here to start at the drivers rear and bleed each caliper rotating counter clockwise. My gut tells me to bleed each caliper as I do them and finish off with the sequence above as the last pass so to speak. Or should I just do both calipers (not bleeding in between) and bleed them once after both calipers are installed. What is the proper way to bleed the brakes when changin both front calipers? As always you guys are great and thanks for any reply.

1988-91 Seville/Eldorado Fender Insulator
Folks,
This diagram is from the 1991 Service Manual -- what I have in both fenders where "1" would go is a thick piece of jute-like material. Is that indeed what the "insulator" shown here is? Or is it a more substantial part (which I would be missing?) Asking because of the apparent box-like area half-way down "1".
Thanks!
