$

I have a question: my 1996 El Dorado is displaying "Service Ride Control" - when I run the codes I receive the following information:

PCM0325 History
RS0026 History
RF2560 History
IR1740 History
PC0603 History
No IPC Code
No ACM Code
No SDM Code
No TCS Data
No PZM Code
No CZM Code
PCM?

From the codes provided above - is anyone able to assist me in diagnosing what may be the cause for the "Service Ride Control" message?

Battery and/or Alternator Trouble...Or?

I have a question re: my 1996 El Dorado Touring Coupe - the car sat idle for approximately (8) months.

You can imagine after such a long time being idle the battery (1 year old) was completely dead. Even after jumping the vehicle (which took about 20 minutes before it would turn over) and allowing it to run for 30+ minutes the battery still would not start the car.

After returning/recharging the battery last week (rather than replace it the retailer re-charged it) it started fine.

In the last week though - it increasingly turns over slower and slower...until last evening it would not turn over at all.

I have since jumped the car and it runs well - but - I do not want to use the vehicle lest I get stranded with no ability to start the car.

Notes:

1) With the engine off my electrical meter reads 13v across the battery terminals
2) With the engine running my electrical meter reads 14.5v across the battery terminals

Any suggestions would be appreciated...thank you

Hello, I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction. I was told by a mechanic that I need new shocks (front and rear) I'd like to change these myself and was needing the correct type. I don't think I have electronic shocks but I assume that I have air.

I was out of town for 2 months and left my 99 sls to a friend while I was gone. I'm not sure if he damaged it or normal wear and tear. It has 103k miles and has mechanically been maintained and serviced at dealerships. There Is a clunking noise at the front passenger side tire. It makes a clunking noise when the steering wheel is turned to the left. It will only make the noise at low turning speeds or stopped. When turning left parked the passenger front tire area will lift up then down. I had a friend watch the engine and they said it moved up as well. I just had the engine and transmission dropped in February for flywheel replacement. The power steering bolt also came loose a month ago. Any ideas?

Trouble - 2000 STS P 0741 and P 0440

Pulled codes today and got P0440 and P0741. 440 indicates the wires are reversed on my O2 sensors (I've never had them worked on). 741 indicates torque converter clutch circuit performance or stuck off. Anybody know what this could mean ? I was going to drive down to the Ozarks in a couple weeks but I doubt now that I will be able to.

No ABS Data, Service Suspension System, Brake Light ABS Light, Traction Control Light

I need some help diagnosing my problem with my 2003 Seville (STS). I suddenly (drove to work fine, left for lunch bad) have all the warnings listed in the title on the instrument cluster: ABS, Brake and Traction Control lights illuminated, in addition to Service Suspension System.

Current Codes:
NO ABS DATA
DTC P1571 Traction Control Torque Request Circuit
DTC C0710 Steering Position Signal Malfunction
DTC U1040 Loss of Class 2 Communications with ABS
DTC U1000 Class 2 Communication Malfunction
DTC U1016 Loss of Class 2 Communication with VCM

I think I am chasing two problems, the steering sensor separate from the brake problem. So, it looks to me like my EBTCM Module has malfunctioned, I checked 2 ABS fuses, one under the hood and one under the rear seat, they were OK. I disconnected and reconnected the EBTCM with no change. What should be my next step?

The steering sensor looks like I need to replace the sensor, I've been having ongoing intermittent problems with it, now its constant. (Strane coincidence...)

TIA

94 Eldorado 4.6 - water pump tensioner pulley has begun to make noise. Much to my displeasure both of my local cadillac dealers say the tensioner (93 and 94 only) has been discontinued, and no matter how many times I look at the other type I dont see how I can make the new style tensioner work. Any ideas? Wanting to make a trip but afraid after hearing the tensioner pulley.

Just had my Power steering hose replaced with my favorite mechanic. He called and asked me to come see him. Upon my arrival, He asked me if the ABS light had ever come on before. My answer was No! But I have had a (Check engine light) with codes to the Evap Module. When I got in the car and started the motor to inspect the work before payment, I Found My Console Cluster Lit up with Lights I never had on before. (((ABS))) (((Airbag))) and the (((Battery Light))). My Display would not read out percentages of gas used, Oil Life, ETC the Words were all There, But no numbers or results. Larry (Mechanic) hooked it up to his computer and it was giving him a code and a Message saying (((Unable to communicate with the console cluster))) Can anyone give me some ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

No Panic Button?

Hey again everyone. My 91 Eldorado has the factory theft deterrent system in it. It occurred to me after all these years that it has no panic button on it just buttons for lock, unlock, trunk, and dome lights. Is there anything special to making it go off remotely like holding down a button or something? The alarm still works good. I tested it before by putting down the window, locking the door, closing it, then reaching in and unlocking the door and opening it to make the alarm go off. The alarm still cancels out by pressing the unlock button on the remote. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement / Pass Key III learn procedure codes B2065 & B3055

Got a new old stock GM lock set (ignition, trunk, glovebox, driver door and 2 new logo keys with a valet key) for my 2000 SLS from eBay for $50. Was having code B2734 come on randomly with the security light and some research pointed me in the direction of the exciter module on the lock cylinder. Plus when I got my car it only had one key, so I thought I could take care of two problems at once. Anyways after much frustration and fighting, I got the lock cylinder replaced along with all of the other locks tonight. I figured I would need to do the relearn procedure (30 min in my case with only a Snap-On Solus Ultra and not a GM computer) after changing the dash switch. However, when I went to perform a relearn, the car started with both of the black keys. Puzzled me but oh well. I then went to clear the codes that were stored and active (B2065 & B3055) with the switch to on but the engine not running, the car wouldn't start after that. The DIC displayed "starting disabled, remove key. I'm in the process of doing the 30 min procedure, but the message still displays. The security light did turn off after sitting with the key on for a bit, which I then cycled the key off for 5 seconds, then cranked to start and left it in the on position. It's on it's second cycle now as far as I can tell. Am I heading down the right path, or am I going in the wrong direction? From what I read, the procedure didn't mention anything about the DIC displaying any info. Thanks!

Nevermind, figured it out. Sorry to take up real estate on here. I'd delete this post if I knew how. Lol...

Hey guys new here and I have a problem im going to explain everything so I don't miss any details that could be linked to my problem. I bought my 02 Seville on March 8th this year the engine light was on when I bought it was the P0385 when I had it checked at autozone, car ran great, periodically my engine light will go off and come back on a day or so later. Now one day I was driving and the car started having a sluggish take off and a slight rough idle got the service light checked and the codes came up that you see in the title and even after my prob my engine light is still going off and coming back on a day or so later . Now the car runs slightly rough its not that bad but it is noticeable, takeoff is a little sluggish but not majorly affecting it, it will get up if I hit the gas but still slightly sluggish. Also when I first had the prob inside the car had a real strong gas / exhaust smell, it smelt like a firecracker went off. I tried the CDC brake cleaner thing on the plenum and nothing happened one last thing about a week before my problem started I noticed my oil was really low just a drop on the dipstick but my mechanic told me just replace a couple quarts and I should be okay don't know if that would have anything to do with this but figure I would mention it sorry I had the write so much I didn't want to miss anything that may be important but this is where I'm at at this moment any advice or anything guys?

Ticking noise with enginge off load

$

Hi guys

I have searched the forums but couldn't find the same symptoms. For my 96 Seville SLS I've had an oil change made, as well as a changing of the front brake rotors. Since then, I notice an irregular "ticking" noise when the engine is NOT under load. The noise is comparable to the ticking of a hot engine after shutting it down. The noise is not present when accelerating, but only when I take the foot off the pedal or when I roll down a hill. I can only hear it with the windows rolled down, so it's not very loud. When idling and with the hood open, the noise is almost gone. I can't really locate it as it is barely there when idling. I have a history P0101 DTC and a current 0741. After a few trips it seems to get more frequent. As I am planning to go on holidays in two days, I'm afraid there could be some serious damage coming up when I'm in France (and good luck finding a Cadillac shop there! ;-) )

Thanks in advance for your input!

Cooling system and ground 101

99 sts

I recently pulled out my radiator and surge tank (both had leaks) and replaced them with new parts.

Right under the surge tank was 101 ground which I find out after I tried backing out the bolt causing it to snapped. Check coolant level message and my wipers no longer worked. I grounded to another threaded hole in the frame right in front of the headless bolt. The air box housing was using the hole. Wipers work they only work on high since I had Sts seems to operate at a slower speed. Should I use a real ground location for 101 or is any location on the frame sufficient?

The old surge tank had hairline cracks that shot out coolant under high pressure and the coolant soaked down underneath the air box area over the ground 101 and into the sleeve for the air box that runs into the filter area. So I believe the air in take housing underneath the car has some coolant in it.

Does the housing underneath the car come off?
Would a small hole hurt the air intake system

I had my water pump assembly replaced last summer I now have a new radiator and surge tank. What other parts relating to the cooling system should I look into replacing. Now of the hoses are leaking. Most of the clamps look weathered.

'97 Eldo - riding high after shock / strut replacement

Hi all,

Yesterday, I had a local shop install new shocks / struts on my 97 Eldo (base model / ESC). My car has the FE1 soft ride suspension. It does NOT have F45.

I had them install the Monroe 90011 suspension conversion kit in the front, and Monroe 40046 shocks in the rear.

When I picked the car up, I noticed it was riding higher that it had before. There is now an extra inch to two inches (closer to two inches) clearance between the top of the tires and the bottom of the wheel wells. This is occurring both in the front and rear. It looks really weird now. Also, the suspension is now quite hard. There's no element of "float" like there was before, although I'm not sure how much of that should be attributed to the new shocks.

Below is a pic of my car BEFORE the new shocks. The height looks "normal", yes? I'm having a bit of an issue transferring a pic of what it now looks like from my camera phone to my computer, but maybe I can do that later. In the meantime, imagine the below pic, but jacked up a few inches and all weird looking.

I pulled the codes and am not getting any. Any ideas on what might be wrong?

i've bought a 2000 seville with 128,000mi. had to do a coil pak and some other minor things. seems to run fine. my question is this; at any point can i feel that i've made it through the blown head gasket ordeal? at 128k did i get one that, perhaps, isn't going to blow gaskets or would i be smarter to feel that at 128k im getting closer everyday. got this car for my daughter who will be able to drive in a couple months. i don't want to be the reason she ends up on the side of the road!
any input would be greatly appreciated
